The client is one of China's largest automotive firm, with about 50 plants in the Shanghai area. The company makes passenger cars, tractors, motorcycles, trucks, buses, and automotive parts. The company's joint venture with famous international auto makers for the Chinese market. The company's other operations include car leasing, auto parts wholesale and retail, and financing.

The Story

The company is engaged into a double race: become the leading car manufacturer in China (they are currently the top 5 manufacturer) and become a global supplier (they are holding the top 20 position in the world). To succeed on such a fierce market, the company has instated a set a corporate rules, one of them being to focus on its core business and therefore to outsource all non-core activities to a selected group of strategic partners, with the capacity of accompanying the company rapid growth, in China and abroad.

Venus Software Corporation (Venus) has become the company's strategic IT outsourcing partner for their mission critical Internet-based B2B and B2C applications. The first mission assigned to Venus was to acquire enough functional knowledge to be able to take over entire responsibility, to accelerate development pace, and to lower application development and maintenance costs.

The various applications now handled by Venus include Customer Relationship Management (CRM), commercial vehicle portal, the company information portal, car dealer portal, etc.

The project has been running for over 4 years now. Venus currently has a team of 20 engineers in charge of developing new applications and providing technical support on the existing ones.
